Calling all new farmers!

San Juan County Cooperative Extension Service is hosting a series of New Farmer Training workshops for new or expanding agricultural producers.

We will host one workshop weekly starting the second week of February. Workshops will be on Farm tours and networking, integrated pest management (IPM), business planning and farm financial record keeping, food safety, soil health principles, crop production strategies, resulting in a cumulative workshop on starting your own community supported agriculture (CSA) program. Each workshop will include special guest teachers and last 1.5 - 2.5 hours. Snacks and beverages will be provided. Dates will be finalized early in January. Participants may register for individual workshops or the entire series.

February Week 2 | Introduction Class: Growing Forward Farm Tour and Participant Networking Session

February Week 3 | Business Planning and Finances

February Week 4 | Integrated Pest Management

March Week 1 | Soil Health Principles

March Week 2 | Crop Production Strategies

March Week 3 | Food Safety Training

April Week 1 | Running a Community Supported Agriculture (CSA) produce subscription program

Registration: Online registration available to be paid with a credit card or mailing/delivering a check or cash to the office. 

  • Per Workshop Option: $20 each
  • The Bundle Option: $75 for all 7 workshops

Please mail or deliver your check payment to address below. Make checks payable to NMSU. Checks must be received by Feb. 6.
